Hey, I just wanted to show some love! I love your work! It is all funny, witty and very smart. I was wondering how you find inspiration for new sayings, fonts and designs?
A
Hi there! Thanks for the sweet words about my work. Honestly, I draw inspiration for my work from every facet of my life. I’m big on taking photos of every little thing that catches my eye (my phone is basically filled with memes and restaurant chalkboards), and I always keep a notebook on me to write down thoughts because my ideas are so fleeting. As for fonts and designs, I’ve changed my habits from browsing through design blogs for inspiration to getting up from my desk and taking a walk outside to look at store signage, posters, and packaging. In short, I just make it a point to take note of every thing that makes me smile or laugh (whether it be an inside joke or an ice cream cone) in my life and infuse it into my work. My best advice is to surround yourself with good food and people who make you laugh!

Just did a fun interview with Abduzeedo! P.S. There’s a photo of chocolate cake in it, so you should probably take a look.
Hello all! Just found out that my blog, Daily Dishonesty, has been nominated for a Webby Award in the Personal Blog/Website category! I couldn’t be more excited, since the blog has been my baby since October. Thank you so much for all of your support these past six months. You have no idea how happy I was to find that there are other type lovers out there who unbutton their pants and eat peanut butter and wine for dinner.
There’s a People’s Voice section of the competition, and I would so appreciate a vote for Daily Dishonesty. Just click on the link above.
Again, thank you guys! Wish I could give all of you high fives or chest bumps or something. And a cookie. Definitely a cookie.
But still check out laurennicolehom.com for some other goodies :)

hi there! I just wanted to ask, how long have you been hand lettering for? I'm 17 and after seeing your work and others, I've been really interested and inspired in hand lettering and I wanted to start myself. I just wanted to know how long it took you to develop a style you like and when you started to be satisfied with your work? Do you have any tips for beginners?
A
Hey! I’ve been lettering for about two years, but only really started seriously pursuing it six months ago. I’m not sure when my style started to develop, but the best advice I can give to beginners is just practice practice practice. You’ll eventually start to see a style emerge (this happened for me when I realized I was drawing all of my A’s the same). Oh and don’t look on the web for inspiration too often. Go out and walk around…look at signs, labels, anything with type.
Hope that helps. Sending my best from NYC!

Hello! I love your work and was wondering if I could ask about your digital colouring process? Is it something you do in photoshop? I guess I'm wondering how you get your typography to look so polished after the ink stage. Thank you :)

Hello! Check out the tutorial I posted a few months ago:

Greetings From A Broken Heart

Some of you may be familiar with my project from last year Greetings from a Broken Heart. I’m starting it back up this year and need to collect honest and anonymous answers:
What would you say to the last person who broke your heart?
Really, what if you had one last chance to tell that person something? Would you wish them the best? Would you tell them to fuck off? Think about it. Keep in mind that boyfriends and girlfriends aren’t the only ones capable of breaking hearts; we have intimate relationships with parents, friends, and siblings too.
You can send answers to this survey:
